Hamish completed a Bachelor of Classical Performance on Cello at the Elder Conservatorium of Music in 2020, and received First Class Honours under the tutelage of Simon Cobcroft. He served as the Principal Cellist of the Elder Conservatorium’s Symphony and Chamber Orchestras and participated in a university study tour to London in 2018. Hamish has performed in masterclasses as a soloist and chamber musician for Peter Wispelwey, Pei-Sian Ng, Umberto Clerici, Daniel de Borah, Natalie Clein, Anna Goldsworthy, Helen Ayres and Nicole Panizza. Whilst completing his secondary education at Concordia College, Hamish went on a number of overseas study tours, performing in China, Hong Kong, France, Belgium, and Japan. He was a dedicated member of the Adelaide Youth Orchestras from 2009-2016 and has participated in several of the Australian Youth Orchestra’s National Music Camp programs. Hamish is the cellist and a founding member of Eurelia Trio, and performs regularly in duos and quartets with his wife Paris.

Hamish established Netting Violins in 2024, and has great interest in the repair and restoration of string instruments. The business fills a significant need for local, high-quality instrument repairs and bow rehairs in South Australia. Hamish has received regular training from his mentor Tim Whelan, a highly-regarded Australian luthier. He has also participated in training through the Sydney String Centre, and participated in a week-long bow rehairing masterclass with London- and Helsinki-based luthier Lauri Tanner. As a performing cellist active in the Adelaide music scene, Hamish brings the unique perspective of performance to his craftsmanship, and has great knowledge of the acoustic properties of instruments and bows, based on years of performance experience. Every instrument is unique, and Hamish prioritises detailed assessment of all instruments and bows to ensure the highest quality repairs are tailored to each customer’s needs.
